honestly the thing i hate the most about our society is the unholy amount of money you have to regurgitate for the right to have your own physical space

the rest of it i could live with

like, i don't mind paying money for food or utilities or insurance bills

but i do mind having to spend almost half my income on rent and having no other options other than being homeless

and of course lots of cities literally make it illegal to sleep in your car because they felt like they had to make being homeless even worse than it already is

fun fact: the US has more empty houses than homeless people

also, jeff bezos has enough money to buy a $250,000 house for every single one of those homeless people, including the individual children

@VoidLurker has anyone checked how many bedrooms the houses have on average and how many are safe to live in?

@sockspls each one could have one or less bedrooms and it would still be sufficient because each one could get an individual house

in fact, there's about 33 empty houses for every homeless person so there's a good chance at least one of those would be safe to live in

@VoidLurker I ask about the bedrooms since, if a few people could live in a single house/apt, they’d be able to stay nearer cities where they’d be more likely to find a job

@VoidLurker
So much funny is that not. But here in Berlin, Germany there are also many abandoned houses and not less homeless people.

Same in the UK. part of it is land banking and waiting for the market to peak - well to maximise a return?

With pensions being crap and housing prices obviously rising faster than the average wage, I can see why a house would be used as an asset and investment if you have the luck of owning one outright.

time to come together and punch upwards for the rest 😄
